Explore Science

April 25, 2014 by

If you’re visiting San Francisco, you must add the Exploratorium to your list of must visit museums. This hands on, interactive, funky, mind bending center is a great place for learning about city science, crime scene evidence, and drinking from toilets.

Take a stroll through the tactile dome in complete darkness, relying only on your senses of sound and touch, or visit the 20 foot tall tinkering clock on the hour and go back in time.

Don’t miss the giant mirror either to see a giant self image, upside down. How do they do that?

The hands on exhibits are great for kids and adults alike. Admission costs $25 and children under 5 are free. Thursdays evenings are adult program nights featuring special exhibits and cocktails. The Exploratorium is open Tuesday-Sunday, closed on Mondays, and is conveniently located on Pier 15. Plan your visit here.

I didn’t know about this place and it sounds like a great family trip. Nice that the science is focused on things in daily life that your kids can more easily relate to, as well.
