The sunny coast of southern California makes the perfect playground for kids of all ages. This vacation-ready hotspot is an ideal location for a family vacation with plenty of fun activities for kids, and enough entertainment to keep adults occupied as well.

With more than 70 miles of beach, San Diego’s most obvious kid-friendly attraction is the sandy shores of the Pacific Ocean. When the kids are ready to take a break from splashing in the surf and building sand castles, head to dry land and explore the museums, parks and other attractions that this city has to offer.

The San Diego Zoo is a must-see for everyone in the family, but kids will take extra delight in seeing animals up close and exploring the zoo’s many kid-friendly exhibits. A trip to SeaWorld to see Shamu should also be on every San Diego kid-friendly itinerary.

Wondering where to eat after exploring the animal kingdom? The San Diego Burger Company and many other restaurants are perfect for kids, with many menu options and outdoor seating.

Kids that are a little older may appreciate some of what Balboa Park has to offer in terms of activities and museums. While parents will most likely be more impressed with the fine art and ancient sculptures, kids can marvel at the exhibits of the Natural History Museum or the San Diego Air and Space Museum.

If you’re up for a drive, the famed LegoLand and San Diego Zoo’s Wild Animal Park are just 30 minutes north of San Diego and provide countless hours of fun and exploration. With so many options to choose from, it’s easy to see why families choose San Diego time and time again for kid-friendly vacations.
