While kids look forward to winter break, it doesn’t take long for them to come up with the “I’m bored” mantra. And for working parents it can create a bit of a nightmare.

For budding scientists and kids who love experimenting in the Long Island area, the Center for Science Teaching & Learning (CSTL) is offers a solution in their “Schools Out Camps” for ages 4 to 12. Dates for this unique program are available in December and January.

If this sounds like something your kids would love, it’s important to sign up early because they do fill up quickly.

Hands on Science

The CSTL provides full-day programs to cover the times kids are out of school during the winter months. These programs don’t just keep kids occupied. They get them involved.

Kids will experience hands-on science experiments and exploration of 17 acres of nature. They’ll also have the opportunity to take part in science shows and demonstrations put on by the professional staff. Activities may include:

  • Animal exploration in their live animal exhibit
  • Arts and crafts
  • Hiking through the woods of the 17 acre preserve
  • Liquid nitrogen show
  • Live animals show
  • Magic show
  • Science experiments and fun
