Crystal Mountain in northern Michigan is ripe with family summer fun. Soak up the sun at the Water’s Edge, or fly down the mountain on the Crystal Coaster Alpine Slide. Enjoy the great outdoors on a mountain bike ride, nature hike, or kayak ride on one of the nearby rivers.

For a fast-paced thrill, guests take the Loki Quad chairlift to the top of the mountain and climb aboard a specially designed sled. Sleds speed down one of two 1,700-foot-long curved tracks. Passengers have control over the speed on this thrill ride as they take dips, and make high-bank turns amid stunning views.

The ride is for ages 3 and up, but kids must be at least 52″ tall to ride solo. Children shorter than 52″ ride for free.

Expert riders can test their skills on the 1.5 mile Screaming Eagle Trail.

This seems like a nice option that gets families away from the long lines of regular theme parks and big rides.
