The Big E Fair (The Eastern States Exposition) is the largest fair in the Northeast. It takes place in West Springfield, Massachusetts and runs for 17 days during New England’s colorful fall season.
Think of it as a super fair as it offers free shows by top-name entertainment, major exhibits, rides, shopping, the Big E Super Circus, and delicious foods from around the world. In a nutshell, this event offers fun the whole family will enjoy.
Sept. 18 – Oct 4, 2015
This year the Big E runs from Sept. 18 to Oct. 4. Gates open at 8 a.m. Agricultural activities start early and open to the public in the Mallary Complex, and many vendors are open for breakfast. However, most of the exhibits and buildings open at 10 in the morning, until 10 at night.
Avenue of States and the Storrowton Village open at 10 and close at 9 p.m. Discount advance Big E tickets ($12 one day pass or a 17-day pass for $40) are available from now through Sept. 16, 2015. Beginning Sept. 17, gate tickets will be regular price.
Free Entertainment All Day Every Day
The Court of Honor stage is situated right at the heart of the fair and features free shows every day from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (sponsored by xfinity). However acts light up the stage from morning to night each day ready to make fairgoers laugh, dance, sing, and have a generally good time.

Midway offers a carnival element to the fair and is the place for thrill seekers with rides that will make your mouth go dry and your heart beat a little faster. It features some of the fastest, gravity defying rides in the Northeast including the Mach 3, Mega Drop, and the Zipper.
For more fun, get whipped around on the Crazy Mouse coaster, soar through the air on the Swing Tower, or try the Orbitor, the Cliff Hanger, or the brand new Remix!
Younger fairgoers can enjoy their own adventure in Kiddieland with the Dragon Coaster, Bumble Bees, the Carousel, and new this year the China Dragon, and more. 2015 Midway vouchers are available for $23 for one day.
There’s more to do and see each day of the fair than is imaginable. Along with the above it also features a daily Mardi Gras parade, 19th century village waiting to be explored, and a world-class circus.
It’s a family friendly venue with something for everyone and is a great opportunity to visit the northeast when the fall colors are their most vibrant.
