Toddler Travel Toys to Keep Your Baby Quiet

Kids love toys that make noise, but sometimes quiet toys are called for; like when you’re on a plane, in an audience watching a program, or a wedding. Even with a good-natured baby, sitting still and quiet for any amount of time is not likely, and when it comes to flying, a fussy baby is everyone’s nightmare.

Unconventional Travel Toys

As a passenger with a toddler, one easy quiet “toy” to keep your child busy isn’t something you’ll find in the toy aisle. Tuck a roll of blue painters tape in your purse. It’s the type of masking tape used to mask trim when your painting. It’s sticky but not too sticky.

When in a pinch, it’s a great quiet toy for toddlers. You can stick it on their nose, on their clothes, on your hand…whatever it takes to keep them quietly happy.

Another thing to carry in your purse is a package of pipe cleaners and a snack bag of Cheerios. Individually, both can keep kids occupied, but together you can make a Cheerios bracelet. Kids love stringing the Cheerios like beads and when they get tired of that, they can eat them.

Keep the fun going by creating a chain of pipe cleaners.

Finger Puppets

Travel Toys for Toddlers

Here are a few more toys to add to your arsenal to have handy on a plane, in a restaurant, or wherever it is you find yourself with the need to keep your baby quiet:

  • Finger puppets: Finger puppets are small and easy to carry. You can use them to tell a story, or put them on your child’s fingers. You can go through the sounds they make, too.
  • Alex Jr. First Snaps Building Toy: This toy includes colorful pieces that snap together. It’s easy to carry and fosters imagination and provides visual and tactile stimulation.
  • My Quiet Book, Fabric Activity Book for Children: This book has all kinds of things to keep little hands busy with zippers to zip, buttons to button, snaps to snap and more. In all, it offers 8 pages of interactive quiet fun.

This is just a handful of possible ideas for quiet travel toys for toddlers. If you have a quiet toy or idea that works for you, we’d love to hear about it.
