Vacation at Bethany Beach this Christmas

Bethany Beach Boardwalk

Bethany Beach offers a fun beach destination for the entire family. Located on the Delaware coast, it is nestled between the larger beach resort towns of Rehobeth Beach, Delaware and Ocean City, MD.

Kids enjoy taking the Cape May-Lewes Ferry which runs from Cape May to Lewes, Delaware if you’re coming from that direction. Think of it as a relaxing opportunity to escape traffic and to kick back and enjoy a little extra family time on the way.

Things to Do at Bethany Beach

Bethany has a large public beach accessible from a boardwalk which offers food, shopping and even outdoor concerts several nights a week at the bandstand. Along with these types of activities, kids will enjoy miniature golf, and a children’s playground where free Wi-fi is available in a small outdoor area.

This is not a big touristy beach town but offers a more relaxing fun atmosphere.

Older kids will enjoy a visit to the Bethany Beach History Museum located in the foyer of the Town Hall. Admission is free. Exhibits display memorabilia and photographs from the Bethany Beach area. It’s open year round on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, call (302) 539-8011.

Bethany Beach Holiday Event

Annual Holiday Event – December 1

While people often think of visiting Bethany Beach in the summer months, the Town of Bethany Beach holds an Annual Holiday Happening. This year, it is scheduled for December 1 from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.

The event is free and offers entertainment for the whole family! The schedule includes music, face painting, horse-drawn carriage rides, and more. Santa arrives by 4:00 p.m. Once he arrives, kids will enjoy cookies and hot chocolate.

Take the Trolley to Avoid Parking Hassles

The one downside to visiting Bethany Beach’s boardwalk area is parking. Be sure to bring plenty of quarters to feed the meter. It costs 25 cents for 10 minutes. A credit card can be used, but it will be charged for the maximum three hours along with a small surcharge.

If you want to bypass this hassle, you can follow the lead of the locals who take advantage of the Bethany Beach Trolley at 25 cents a ride.
