Storybook Land has provided 210 acres of fun and entertainment for the whole family in Aberdeen, South Dakota, for years.

The park revives the wonderment of childhood as it introduces nursery rhymes, the Land of Oz and other children’s classics and cartoon characters to a whole new generation. It’s a great place for children and parents and even grandparents to connect and have fun and there’s no admission to enjoy the park.

The Land of Oz located within Storybook Land portrays the well-known characters and settings of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” written by L. Frank Baum.

Visit Dorothy’s House. Feel the wind blow as you experience a simulated tornado complete with special effects including lighting and sound effects. Stroll along the yellow brick road and visit the 30-horse Allan Herschell carousel, slide down the tin-man slide, enjoy the Wizard Balloon ride, or scale the 24-food rock climbing wall, and more.

The park also features fun-on-the go with go-karts and bumper boats, and kids love to ride the Storybook Land Train. Climb aboard Captain Hook’s boat, crawl through the tunnel to the middle of “Dog Town,” a prairie dog exhibit are among the many favorite nursery rhyme attractions.

Those who love putt-putt golf can enjoy a game of miniature golf, while others may want to rent a bicycle or surrey. Other activities for youth include sand volleyball, swimming, and fishing. Lastly, don’t miss the medieval castle surrounded by a moat and guarded by knights in shining armor.

For those who would like to hike, the park offers trails to enjoy, and for those who would like take advantage of the park for more than one day, modern camping facilities are available including cabin rentals.

    Aw! How cute is that TinMan slide? Sounds like a lovely family park to visit that isn’t terribly expensive and kids can run around and be kids.
